Hot Dog!

Today I went to see a bunch of dachshunds discuss human rights.

No no, I'm not making this up. Really. Check it out for yourself.

Anyway, they didn't seem very talkative — although I suspect they made roughly as much progress as the regular UN would have if they'd been plonked in a Melbourne park for an hour one brisk winter afternoon.

Some Key points:

  • Russia, as always, looking for new territory (sorry Kyrgyzstan!)
  • Who the hell knows where Gabon is?
  • Bolivia obviously sniffing something.
  • Italy having a siesta.
  • Djibouti checking its booty.

A Frankfurter wiener?

It was, as they say, a sausage fest.

Needless to say, cuteness per square metre pretty much hit an all time global maxima. Good to wear bright shoes too, give the dogs something to talk about.

On the way home I saw a few other things:

This building rocks! (ha! See what I did there?)

These pots utterly captivated me, although I can't put my finger on why, exactly.

I spent 10 minutes standing here, utterly transfixed. Rooted to the spot by the majesty, the beauty of this vista.

Weirdest garden ornament ever. Yes, that is smoke. On the water. The rim is almost, but not quite, deep purple.

It's the glorious thing about life. There's beauty & wonder around every corner. All you have to do is look

Is the garden ornament supposed to look like a watermelon?

The road that leads to my ex-mother-in-law's house is narrow and has tall trees on either side that form a spectacular canopy above a driver. It's like a tunnel, and only the tiniest beams of bright sunlight filter through here and there. It's not very near to where I live, and I wouldn't have anything else to do in that area, but it's so gorgeous I've been tempted more than once to visit her just to drive through that road.

I mean, she's a nice lady, and I still like her… except I think my ex still lives with her, so, uhm. No.

Hrm, I don't know. It's actually a massive, massive bowl, about five foot across. Quite huge.

oh hell, any street with trees joining across the centre is bliss to me. I just can't get enough of the peace it brings.

& yeah, I was similarly captivated by another canopy of trees, but I figured one photo of them per post was probably enough. The other one was over a monument to a guy who founded an abstinence society — which I immediately thought "sex or booze?".. but it said the monument was erected, so I figured probably booze.

Okay, now that I've stopped giggling over that rocking building and the erected statue… I have to say I wouldn't mind seeing tons of tree-top canopies.

My parents had to send me to the bus stop 30 minutes in advance of the bus' arrival because we had such a canopy in our back yard that I got to pass through every day to the bus stop. It took my brother (1 yr, 2 mo 2 days older than me) only five minutes to walk this same path… As Si would type *bliss*

Yep. They're just beautiful, beautiful creations. Any street with a canopy over it is instantly improved, I'm such a sucker for them.

I'm fortunate to live on a street that is off of such a drive.. trees on either sides, branching over… with sunbeams coming through during the day; shadows play at night. The patterns that the sunbeams make are glorious to behold; the tricks the shadows play at night are more mischievous. The road also has lots of twists and turns on it and now that I drive, I love that! Whoosh, whoosh.

Sorry, I'm rambling. I'll leave now.
